OUR STORY · OUR VALUES

We start with the person. Not the pile.

A room tells you what needs doing. It doesn't tell you what someone has lived through—or what it will take for change to feel possible.

HUNDREDS OF HOMES. COUNTLESS CONVERSATIONS.

We have seen what a difference understanding makes.

Sometimes a home needs a deep clean. Sometimes it needs hauling or hands-on organizing. Sometimes the hardest part is simply opening the door and asking for help.

Our experience comes from working in hundreds of cluttered homes and alongside individuals and families facing difficult circumstances. We've seen how quickly people can feel overwhelmed when others focus only on the mess. We've also seen the difference it makes when someone listens, respects their choices, and helps them take one practical step at a time.

That's the thinking behind Unburied Home Recovery: skilled, practical work informed by an unusually personal understanding of what happens before, during, and after a cleanout.

THE EXPERIENCE BEHIND UNBURIED

Different roots. One people-first philosophy.

Our approach was shaped by years of community work, peer support, and time spent beside people in their homes—not by a cleaning checklist alone.

COMMUNITY ROOTS · NONPROFIT

Fight the Blight

We learned to look beyond the property.

Fight the Blight Inc. has worked to prevent housing crises, address unsafe conditions, and support neighbors affected by clutter and hoarding disorder. That community work taught us that what looks like a property problem may reflect a person facing a much bigger challenge.

PEER-INFORMED SUPPORT · SEPARATE BUSINESS

The Peer Tree

We learned that trust comes before change.

The Peer Tree LLC brings peer support, chronic-disorganization awareness, practical sorting, and family education to difficult transitions. Its approach emphasizes consent, realistic steps, and meeting people where they are—not where someone else thinks they should be.

PRACTICAL HOME SERVICES

Unburied

We bring that perspective to the work itself.

Unburied Home Recovery applies those lessons to cleaning, organizing, hauling, and home transitions. We can help with the physical work while remembering that the person, their choices, and their circumstances are always part of the plan.

Fight the Blight is a separate nonprofit. The Peer Tree provides independent peer-support services. Unburied Home Recovery offers private-pay home services.

THE PERSONAL STORY BEHIND THE MISSIONPurpose Through Pain.

A journey from tragedy to healing—and a belief that what we've lived through can deepen how we show up for others.

MEET THE FOUNDER

The story behind the understanding.

Matt Williams CPS

Hoarding Recovery Specialist Pennsylvania Certified Peer Specialist (CPS) Certificate of Study in Chronic Disorganization

Matt's path into this work wasn't a conventional one. Profound personal loss, followed by a long journey toward healing, shaped his belief that painful experiences can become a source of understanding, connection, and service. It is a belief reflected in his writing, Purpose Through Pain: A Journey from Tragedy to Healing.

That perspective helped inspire Fight the Blight's community mission and continues through his work with The Peer Tree and Unburied. Across hundreds of cluttered homes, he has seen that the belongings people live among rarely tell the full story. Grief, fear, limited resources, difficult decisions, and years of accumulated stress can make even a small change feel enormous.

Matt brings his peer-support training and certificate of study in chronic disorganization to this work. As a Hoarding Recovery Specialist, he combines recovery-oriented principles—hope, personal choice, and respect—with practical organizing experience and a belief in people's capacity for change. The work may involve cleaning, hauling, organizing, or restoring access to a room—but it begins with listening.

Unburied doesn't promise to solve everything in one visit. We promise to treat people as people, respect their goals, and help identify the next achievable step.

Unburied provides practical home services, not psychotherapy or clinical treatment.

WHAT THIS MEANS IN YOUR HOME

Respect isn't an extra service. It's how we work.

We can be practical and efficient without leaving someone's dignity behind.

01

You will not be judged.

You do not have to apologize for your home or explain how things got this way. We're here to understand what help would actually be useful.

02

Your voice stays in the room.

We talk through priorities and permission before making decisions about your belongings. We will not present a surprise cleanout as a solution.

03

We make safety and progress practical.

A usable doorway, a safe kitchen, a room to rest in, or a manageable sorting plan can matter just as much as the number of bags removed.

04

We tell you what to expect.

We discuss the scope of work, what it may cost, and the next steps as clearly as we can. More complex situations may require a tailored plan.

YOU DON'T HAVE TO HAVE IT ALL FIGURED OUT
